He will also be throwing a party on August 11th to raise money for the Red Cross Chicago and Living Philanthropic will be partnering with John to hopefully raise more.
On a side note, anyone who donates blood to the Red Cross gets into the party for free.
Please consider pledging $1 a day for August or giving blood this month to celebrate the Chicago Red Cross!
The American Red Cross of Greater Chicago serves more than 9.6 million people in northeastern Illinois and northwest Indiana. Counties within our jurisdiction include Cook, DuPage, Grundy, Lake, Kane, Kendall, McHenry, Will, DeKalb, and Kankakee in Illinois, and Jasper, Lake, and Newton in Indiana.
Today, in addition to domestic disaster relief, the American Red Cross offers compassionate services in five other areas: community services that help the needy; support and comfort for military members and their families; the collection, processing and distribution of lifesaving blood and blood products; educational programs that promote health and safety; and international relief and development programs.
The American Red Cross is where people mobilize to help our neighbors—across the street, across the country, and across the world—in emergencies. Locally we respond to 1,200 disasters every year and more than 4,000 volunteers help the Greater Chicago Red Cross deliver services. We also teach more than a quarter million people in Chicagoland each year health, safety and disaster preparedness skills.

Featured Charity for June: Homeboy Industries

“Homeboy Industries is the living example of our mission statement, “nothing stops a bullet like a job.”
Started as a jobs program offering alternatives to gang violence in one of the toughest neighborhoods in Los Angeles, Homeboy Industries assists at-risk, recently released, and formerly gang involved youth to become contributing members of their communities through a variety of services in response to their multiple needs.
Free programs — including counseling, education, tattoo removal, substance abuse and addiction assistance, job training and job placement — enable young people to redirect their lives.
Homeboy provides them with hope for their futures and is the nation’s largest gang-intervention and re-entry program – a model to all.

Want to appear on an episode of LP TV?
There is nothing GOOD on TV. At least not yet, Living Philanthropic wants to launch a new web series highlighting the joys of giving back through volunteerism.
The goal is to produce 12 socially good episodes highlighting a different non-profit organization each week as the host interacts and volunteers with the organization and helps to tell their story.
We have the idea and we only need one thing: YOU!
Your support can help launch this idea off the ground and into the interwebs, besides some cool perks, you may also have the option of volunteering along side us and appear in an episode!!
THE FIRST 10 DONORS THAT DONATE OVER $100 WILL HAVE THE OPTION TO VOLUNTEER WITH US AND APPEAR IN AN EPISODE! (Sorry, Travel & accommodations not included. But, you never know where we might end up!)
Visit http://bit.ly/lp-tv and pledge your support today!
