Day 162: Soldiers’ Angels (in honor of DrumHike)
I am constantly connecting with new people that inspire me on a daily basis, October’s featured charity on my Crowdrise is in honor of Iraq War Veteran Troy Yocum, who is hiking 7,000 miles across America, banging his drum and sounding the call for $5 million to help military families in need. With Emmie the SuperDog by his side, he took the first step of his 16-month quest on April 17, 2010. Now they are on track to complete the western leg of the journey. All the way from Kentucky to California on Veterans Day. I not think of a better way to celebrate Veterans Day, than help Troy on his DrumHike and help him hit his $5million goal for Soldiers’ Angels, a non-profit providing aid and comfort to the men and women of the United States Army, Marines, Navy, Air Force, Coast Guard, veterans and their families.
“May No Soldier Go Unloved”, encapsulates the motivation behind Soldiers’ Angels. The volunteers of Soldiers’ Angels work tirelessly to demonstrate active care and concern for veterans, the wounded, deployed service members and their families.
