Day 249: Only Make Believe
Today is my uncle Pete’s funeral, I was asked to be a pallbearer, which I would have been honored to be. But my expedition to Mexico took me away, so today in his memory, I will write his name on a nail that I hammer into the school I am building in Chiapas. Rest in Peace, uncle Pete.
Coming from the performing arts world, I love to see groups of creative people coming together to do good in their community. Today’s give goes out to Only Make Believe, a organization in New York that puts together interactive theatrical performance and tours them around to various hospitals in their community. Their service to children battling illness is a commendable one, if you can transport a sick child to world that is illness free for even an hour, you are a hero in my book.
Only Make Believe provides interactive theatrical performances conducted by a team of three professional actors, once a week for six weeks, free-of-charge to hospitals and other medical institutions. OMB serves children living with chronic illnesses and disabilities, and is dedicated to the principle that freeing a child’s creative spirit is essential to the healing process. They travel to hospitals around the New York Metro area including the Bronx, Brooklyn, Queens, Manhattan, Westchester and New Jersey.
