So far, so good! We have collectively raised over $5,900 for the Chicago Coalition for the Homeless youth group. Our goal is $7,200, which will provide a year of services to a group of homeless teens in Chicago.
If you are able to donate or share our mission, please do. We will be eternally grateful. Happy Saturday!

***As an added bonus, when we reach our goal, I will do one of the following as a thank you: Send 12 Malaria Nets to Africa via Nothing But Nets, Adopt 2 Acres in Africa via The Nature Conservancy, or put 4 kids through the Grassroot Soccer Skillz program.
While thinking about the over 21,000 homeless people in Chicago struggling to find ways to stay warm and avoid bed bugs, I set out to begin an online fundraising campaign and the #CHIberiaChallenge was born.
I’m posting on behalf on those who can not, I’m speaking up for the over 15,000 homeless youth in Chicago, whether they ran away, foreclosure, kicked out for being LGBT or whatever reason, the point is it can happen to anyone. I believe they deserve at least a warm meal and a sense of community, Chicago Coalition for the Homeless' HELLO youth group provides that and we can help.
Between now and Friday, can you skip a latte, bag a lunch, or raid your cupboard to cook a dinner, and donate $10 to the cause? That’s the message behind the #CHIberiaChallenge. If you are unable to donate, please share this message on Facebook or Twitter, so that someone who might be able to can see this.
Let’s make 2014 a year of giving and caring for the basic human rights for all.

Sometimes giving everyday can be as simple as setting aside $1 a day for your favorite charity. This year, I’m donating my daily donation to my favorite charity: Foundation Escalera.
I have spent 2 Christmas-es with them building schools and installing wood burning stoves with them in Chiapas, Mexico. I have seen their work first hand and have witnessed the impact we’ve made together! It’s truly inspiring.
Foundation Escalera is privately founded for administration costs so 100% of the public donations made to the organization go directly to their efforts to improve access to education.

In 2011, I built a school (my second) in Chiapas, Mexico with Foundation Escalera, In July of this year, the school celebrated its first graduating class. I could not be more proud of the work we did. It’s true. You can make a difference! It only takes some heart, sweat, and determination. Be The Change.
December Featured Charity: Foundation Escalera
Congrats to Team Living Philanthropic for raising $610 with mustaches for Movember!
Now for December’s Featured Charity, one of my personal favorites, Foundation Escalera!
I’ve been a big fan of an organization called Foundation Escalera, one of their programs involves expeditions to the neediest villages in Mexico to build schools as a way to combat poverty through access to education. For the past 2 years, I have volunteered my time during the holidays to go to Chiapas, Mexico to build a school for some kids in need.
This year, I may not be able to attend, but I still want to send my support. If you want to help us build another school this year, please consider a contribution to Foundation Escalera.
Foundation Escalera is a leader in providing educational infrastructure to indigenous villages in Mexico. www.foundationescalera.org

Living Philanthropic was founded in April 2010 as one man’s mission to give to charity everyday for a year. This mission is built on a belief that you don’t have to be rich in dollars to make a difference; you only need to be rich in spirit. After completing his 365 day mission, the spirit of giving everyday carries on through his friends and in his mission to continue his micro-philanthropy for a second year. Featured Charity: Movember
If you haven’t noticed yet, the featured charity for November is MOVEMBER. What is Movember?
During November each year, Movember is responsible for the sprouting of moustaches on thousands of men’s faces, in the US and around the world. With their Mo’s, these men raise vital awareness and funds for men’s health issues, specifically prostate and testicular cancer initiatives.
The Movember Effect: Awareness & Education, Survivorship, Research
The funds raised in the US support prostate cancer and testicular cancer initiatives. The funds raised are directed to programs run directly by Movember and our men’s health partners, the Prostate Cancer Foundation and LIVESTRONG Foundation. Together, the three channels work together to ensure that Movember funds are supporting a broad range of innovative, world-class programs in line with our strategic goals in the areas of awareness and education, survivorship and research.
