Day 77: Emiliana Galarza Alvarado via Kiva

One of my biggest supporters, Patty S. has always been vocal about supporting my mission and liking my posts on facebook. She’s also a great philanthropist herself, and turned me on to Kiva (she’s up to 20 loans!).
Kiva’s mission is to connect people, through lending, for the sake of alleviating poverty. Kiva empowers individuals to lend to an entrepreneur across the globe. By combining microfinance with the internet, Kiva is creating a global community of people connected through lending.
So, I made my first loan on Kiva to Emiliana Galarza Alvarado in Bolivia, she needed $25 more dollars to complete her loan of $1,000. Emiliana needed capital to increase their potato, broad bean and corn yields. Since the field partner has land that is not being used, it was able to help. She wants to increase their potato and broad bean harvests, so as to have sufficient funds to save money and enable their son to go to university in the city. Emiliana’s dream is for her son to secure a professional job.
Amount Donated: $25* (+ $3.75 to Kiva) *which I will continue to lend out as it is repaid
